Tea Savories

eat teaTea savories are tidbits of highly seasoned non-sweet treats served at Afternoon and High Tea events. Similar to appetizers, they are gourmet concoctions of meats and/or vegetables that delight the palate.

Popular tea savories are creative blends of aromatic and smoky spices as well as herbal and fruity teas into traditional and contemporary meat recipes. Examples include gourmet tea sandwiches; meat filled mini pastry shells; and even small servings of soup.

Basically, anything you serve at teatime that is not sweet can be considered a tea savory (with the exception of scones, of course; they’re a distinct menu item of their own).

There are scores of great savory recipes on the web. Make something fresh and new for your next Afternoon or High Tea gathering.
