The Spode Company is renowned for its china and ceramics. The company was founded by Josiah Spode who co-invented the formula for fine bone china in the 1700s. But his real claim to fame came from perfecting the blue under-glaze printing process used in manufacturing china, and making creamware and pearlware.
His Blue Room Collection is inspired by a wealth of authentic copper engravings. It is a comprehensive selection of home accessories which includes an eclectic range of wall plates and mugs. These items perfectly showcase an array of both traditional and contemporary Spode Patterns. This teacup and saucer is Blue Girl at Well, first introduced in 1822. It is wonderfully decorative and useful at the same time.

Bone china is the finest in the opinion of many and is traditional for tea service at least for the higher classes. The quality bone china is rare nowadays as brand new. The better pieces are usually used or antiques. –Teaternity
