Serve Low Tea in the Afternoon

365 things every tea lover should knowEver heard of Low Tea? I came across an article the other day that explained the difference between the custom of serving “Low” and “High” Tea. It seems that well-to-do English homes served Low Tea in the afternoons instead of the more substantial High Tea that was enjoyed by the middle classes in the evenings.

If you ask me, Low Tea is just another name for Afternoon Tea which is still celebrated today. This refined tradition includes dainty dessert tidbits and gourmet sandwich slivers with premium loose leaf tea that has been perfectly and meticulously brewed.

No matter which tradition you enjoy, drinking tea in the company of fine friends and a cozy atmosphere is sure to delight the senses and warm the soul. This is comfort food at its best!

I’ve heard that low tea got its name from a tea table it was served on that was low in height.
