While stumbling around on the web for interesting tea rooms, I came across the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It brought back memories of a special Tea Excursion that my sister and I took there several years ago. We had always wanted to get away for a tea vacation and since we both loved Walt Disney World, this seemed like the best place to go.
The whole reason for the trip was to enjoy Afternoon Tea as often as possible in the four days and five nights that we were there. So, we booked our rooms at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the home of afternoon tea for Disney World, and made sure that we had tea in the Garden View Lounge every afternoon as well as a quick late night tea in our suite which we had turned into a quiet tea spot of our very own.
At that time the Garden View Lounge served afternoon tea on Royal Albert Old Country Roses china including individual tea pots, serving trays, tea cups, etc. We were even able to purchase the china and accessories in the hotel gift shop as well as several boutique shops on the Disney World complex.
We sampled every one of the Harney & Sons Teas offered in the Garden View Lounge at that time in lovely tea pots and French presses and even purchased several tins to bring home with us.
Although prices and menu details have changed over the years, the basic Tea packages still remain the same. Here are the selections we enjoyed; they are still being served today.
Buckingham Palace – Traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complimented by fresh strawberries and cream, or a selection of freshly baked pastries, served with your choice of tea.
Prince Edward’s Tea - A delicious array of duck and cherry terrine, chicken and pork roulade, country pate en croute, and English Blue Stilton cheese served with marinated fresh berries, and Cumberland sauce. Delicious fresh baked scones are served with rich Devonshire cream, served with your choice of our tea and a glass of Port.
Sally Lunn Tea - Sally Lunn rolls, sweet yeast bread served lightly toasted with apricot preserves, are followed by a choice of either trifle or strawberries and cream, along with your choice of tea.
The Grand Tea – This is the classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style, which includes a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine and your choice of tea.
If you are planning a trip to Disney World and love everything tea; then you absolutely have to sample Afternoon Tea in the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. For more information, click here.

some of my best Disney memories are of the Grand Floridian. It is so beautiful and really makes you feel like you are drinking tea is a bygone era.
