It’s amazing how one enterprising person can build a famous business and bequeath a legacy for generations to come.
This was the case with William Fortnum, a lowly footman in Queen Anne’s Palace. He persuaded Hugh Mason to go into business with him and the Fortnum & Mason tea emporium was created. It opened in Central London, on Piccadilly, in 1707, and is still there today.
If you’re in the market for high quality teas or a unique Christmas gift for a tea lover, you can purchase from Fortnum & Mason a made-to-order Christmas food hamper filled with delicious gourmet tea, afternoon tea treats and other British delectables.
