One of the highlights of the May Japanese Embroidery Mini-Exhibition is the coffee entertainment after the show. After all the exhibits have been packed away and everything is back in its usual place, my Japanese Embroidery Masters will get out their Tabletop Vacuum Coffee Maker
The vacuum method for brewing fresh coffee takes the ordinary process of making coffee and turns it into an artful performance. It makes a great after dinner treat and is usually brewed right at the table. The key to success is using a Tabletop Vacuum Coffee Maker
There’s something calming about watching the process:
Water is heated in the lower jug on an alcohol burner that activates the brewing process. and eventually boils up through a funnel where it mixes with the ground coffee. Once the coffee is brewed, the unit is removed from the heat and brewed coffee is released back into the lower jug. It reminds me of the chemistry experiments I used to do in my high school lab.
After brewing, the masters serve the coffee along with traditional sugar, cream, chocolate shavings, and any baked leftovers from the covered dish lunch. As students, all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the friendship and the fresh great tasting coffee.
