The H in FRESH coffee stands for HOT, which means that for the best gourmet coffee experience, you must brew it at the perfect temperature.
The ideal temperature depends on the type of gourmet coffee used. Regular coffee should be brewed between just below boiling point from 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit. Espresso which is brewed under pressure should be enjoyed at a slightly higher temperature.
Once the coffee is brewed you should drink it immediately. If after enjoying a cup or two you still have some left over; then pour it into an airtight insulated thermos or air pot to keep it hot for a longer period.
To ensure the proper brewing temperature, consider using a Hot Beverage Thermometer. It will allow you to know when your coffee is ready and will keep it from “cooking”. Coffee that has been brewed too long can taste burnt.
