This tea is aptly named for the stressed-out American population–the “hurry up and go” generation. Not only are minds stressed with anxiety and worry; but bodies as well in a constant search for the latest fitness or dieting craze.
Overworked with too little sleep, the frantic pace with which life is lived is like that of a hamster on a wheel–running faster and faster toward a goal that always seems just out of reach. A natural solution is to drink a soothing tea made with dried ginseng root and boiling water.
Simply grind one teaspoon of the dried ginseng root in a clean coffee grinder (that’s only used for this purpose). Add this to a glass or porcelain teapot, pour over one cup of boiling water, place the lid on the pot, and cover with a tea cosy or clean napkin. Let steep for 15 minutes.
Place a paper tea filter in your favorite teacup (if your pot does not have an infuser), and pour in the freshly steeped tea. Sweeten with honey as desired.
A Word of Caution
Avoid drinking excessive amounts of this tisane. Too much can cause high blood pressure and headaches, and should not be used at all during pregnancy. Also, no “nips” or “caffeine blends”; this tea should not be mixed in caffeine or alcohol.
The neat thing about dried ginseng root tea is that it is a great tonic for the whole body, and is said to be an aphrodisiac.
